Pat's Elk Hunt

We were tagged out RTO and headed to Perry and Brenda Hunsikers Timberline Outfitters where Pat had a tag.  We were super excited to see everyone at camp and get the chance to hang out for a few days!  Chris Brackett was going to be sharing camp with us this week and filming his hunt as well.  We got our gear unloaded, ate some good fiddles and got ready for the next mornings hunt.

The first couple of days were pretty uneventful as we heard a few bugles just nothing close enough.  On the third evening Kenny called a nice bull in to 20 yards but Pat decided to pass on it.  The next day was pretty slow again but  Day 5 seemed to be the day! It was super hot that day so we knew it would be a great day for a waterhole hunt.  That afternoon Kenny and another guide Cooter took us to a waterhole tucked way back in on a private piece where we got setup in a ground blind.  We got there around noon and guess what decided to come in at 2 o’clock, a big ol’ bull elk.   We were sitting there and all of a sudden Pat spotted him coming our direction.  He came right into the water to drink.  Pat made a perfect shot on him as he took off across the water hole splashing then wheeled around and came back through running 40 yards before he crashed!  The celebration was on!

We called Kenny and Cooter and they couldn’t believe it! It was only 2 o’clock and we were tagged out! We butchered and capped him and headed back to camp to show Perry, Brenda and the rest of the gang!  A big thanks goes to George and Russ from Bullseye Outdoor Adventures and Perry, Brenda, Kenny, Cooter and the rest of the gang at Timberline.  Head to bullseyeoutfitters.com to book an elk hunt with Timberline Outfitters!
