When it comes to being fully prepared for deer season, you must put in the time and effort during the off-season.  In addition to land management practices like food plots, the addition of mineral supplements are a simple and great way to improve your hunting success.A mineral site can do a number of things. First, it provides vitamins and minerals to help all deer from fawns to nursing does and yes, the big bucks during the antler growing process. This is vital, as it will help strengthen the entire deer herd and aid in creating better genetics in the future. Mineral sites are also great for attracting deer into stand locations you plan to hunt come fall. Whether they are existing or potential stand locations, having minerals in these areas will get deer traveling through to visit the site all summer long.  Most minerals contain salt, which is almost irresistible to deer and will be found pretty quickly.  These sites are also natural places to put a camera to monitor what is happening in your neck of the woods.  Put in a little extra sweat this summer and have the upper hand once fall roles around. You will find it is very simple, as you create an 3'x3' area of loose dirt, mix the minerals in with the dirt, and let the deer do the rest. Give it a try!
