Wicked Ridge Ranger

Wicked Ridge Crossbows®, manufacturer of quality, precision performance crossbows that are simple, reliable, and affordable, will introduce its new Ranger crossbow at the 2015 ATA Trade Show in Indianapolis, IN on January 8, 2015. In development for the past five years, the Ranger is a hunting crossbow designed and engineered specifically for small-framed shooters.

In addition, Wicked Ridge will also offer a Lady Ranger model. Decorated for the female hunter, the Lady Ranger is fluid-image double-dipped in Muddy Girl® camo and outfitted with hot pink string and cables.

“Our thought at the beginning was to create a youth bow with the ideal length-of-pull, physical weight, and overall size suitable for a youngster in the nine-to-thirteen year-old age group. And, we conducted a lot of research to quantify those ideals,” said TenPoint® and Wicked Ridge CEO, Rick Bednar. “We decided early on that we wanted it to be a legitimate hunting weapon worthy of the brand, so as the design evolved over several years, it became clear that the Ranger was also ideal for others who could be considered small-framed hunters, regardless of their age or gender.”

Fully assembled without accessories, the Ranger is lightweight, at 5.9 pounds, and shoots its recommended 18-inch Wicked Ridge Ranger carbon arrow at 300 fps. At only 33.9 inches long, it features an easy-to-manage 150-pound draw weight and a 19.9-inch axle-to-axle width when cocked.

Wicked Ridge built the Ranger’s bow assembly around a new lightweight, machined aluminum riser fitted with 12.3-inch WL12™ limbs. This configuration is powered by a new Energy Wheel™ and DynaFLIGHT 97 string and cables with tunable yokes - all matched for optimum functional efficiency.

The company engineered the molded PlastiComp® DuplÄ“t®, semi-skeletal stock assembly with weight reduction in mind and designed its safety engineered pass-through grip to help keep the shooter’s fore-grip hand safely below the bowstring release path. The stock also includes glass reinforced nylon safety wings mounted to the stock just above the grip that serve as another barrier to help prevent hand injury. Finally, Wicked Ridge outfitted the stock with TenPoint’s DFI™ (Dry-Fire-Inhibitor) and 3.5-pound T2™ trigger.

“The Ranger fills a void in our lineup,” said Bednar. “It took a number of years of thought, discussion, engineering, and testing to produce a design that met our objectives. I am confident that our effort has produced the marketplace’s best crossbow in its class.”

The Ranger is available in two packages. The standard package includes the crossbow in tactical black, TenPoint 3x Multi-Line™ Scope, and a quiver.
