Virginia Senate Passes Bill to Lift Ban on Sunday Hunting
Virginia hunters – Now is the time to put pressure on elected officials. Contact them and help end the ban on Sunday hunting.
Late last week the Virginia Senate passed Bill 464 with a final vote of 29-11 which would allow Sunday hunting on private lands. Although typically pro-gun, eight out of the eleven votes against Sunday hunting were Republicans, including co-chair of the Senate’s sportsmen’s caucus - Senator Emmett W. Hanger (R-Augustus).
The bill, which typically has never made it past Senate Committees, will now face a much tougher battle in the House of Delegates. Virginia Delegates are aware, however, that Governor Bob McDonell supports the lift on Sunday hunting and is ready to sign any bill that would allow the lifting of the ban.
Virginia governor, Bob McDonell, supports the lift on Sunday hunting.
Introduced by Senator Ralph Northam (D-Norfolk), Bill 464 would allow Sunday hunting on private property only; prohibit it within 250 yards of a place of worship, and the use of hunting dogs.

Re: Virginia Senate Passes Bill to Lift Ban on Sunday Hunting
This is insane! There should never be hunting on Sundays! It is the one day that people and families can count on being outside....walking, etc. with NO worry of a stray bullet...finding its way to an innocent person...regardless of it being private land. That goes without saying...hunting is done on private land or land owned by "hunt clubs"! The public had no input and those voting were totally out of line!! Give people and families a break! There is plenty of time for hunting without Sunday being included!
Re: Virginia Senate Passes Bill to Lift Ban on Sunday Hunting
if you want to go out on sunday then stay off other peoples land thats why they said you can hunt on private property so dont trust pass and you wont have to worry about it.

Colleen, If there are 52 Sundays in a year, and hunters are asking for 8 of them, how are you getting mistreated? Not to mention the fact that on most private land the public shouldn't be walking on anyway. You're insane.. but drink all the beer you want cause that's legal on Sunday's.
