The Buck Known as Free Agent becomes the Largest Ever at 500 Plus Inches

With modern bow speeds approaching 400 feet per second (fps) and whitetail bucks approaching 550 inches, the Hunting Network staff cannot help but wonder what deer hunting will be like for our grandchildren. Wait… did we just say whitetail bucks approaching 550 inches?!

This past March a captive Pennsylvanian whitetail buck had its antlers officially measured to the tune of 528 3/8 inches by Safari Club International (SCI). A score that will make this buck the largest living whitetail of not just the world, but of history. And history goes a long way back.

This is 'Free Agent' as a yearling!

The buck is simply known as “Free Agent”, a name (we assume) given by Mark Sipes, owner of Battle Ridge Whitetails where this awesome-mega-super-monster stud calls home. He is also the same buck who, a few years ago, was dubbed as the largest yearling alive, having well over 200 inches on his head even then!

'Free Agent' last year! He is now the largest buck ever to have lived!

So the question of the day has got to be - if given the chance to hunt and harvest this buck would you pay money to hunt him? Would it even be fair?

No I would not pay to harvest this deer nor would I do it for free. He is a true monster but the only problem is he's penned up and home grown not grown in the wild. I think it's awesome to see how big bucks can get in a controlled environment but it would be even more awesome if we could grow them in the wild like this.

Yeah, this Buckmaster thinks high fences and genetic manipulation are messing up the soul of whitetail hunting. I've always loved how my swamp bucks run on this type of tree, where my upper plains bucks rub on that kind. And, because of how it differs you see different colors and growths both body and antler. High fences will experience inbreeding. Even when they introduce sperm, they are often taking away that particular areas breed type. I just love the free roaming way! I mean come on, during the rut if you can keep a few does on your place... You are gonna see many bucks during that time. I have my ranch managed to a great level. Big bucks and just enough of em'! It's inhumane to breed deer just to get large racks. How would you like to carry that around on your head? There is a reason bucks don't get that big in the wild. Yes, I hunt, and no I wouldn't pay to shoot this buck, in a cage.
