Despite the weapon used in this bucks last breaths of fresh air, the story of any typical whitetail who nets over 200 inches just begs to be told. A buck like this doesn’t show himself to often.

Taken on November 19th, 2010, following a hastily put together deer drive, this massive 17-point buck would fall to Nebraska resident Kevin Petrzilka. What Kevin wouldn’t have known that day was not only that he had just taken the NEW Nebraska state record buck but that it was also the largest typical taken by any hunter in the U.S. in nearly 40 years!

The buck officially tallied an incredible 202 6/8” last month when it was officially measured by Ricky Kreuger of the Boone and Crockett Club, toppling the previous state record buck of 199 2/8”shot in 1983.

The Boone and Crockett Club has been keeping records since 1830 on millions of animals including whitetail deer. During this time only 16 typical bucks have scored over 200”- making this Nebraska buck truly unique. In fact, Kevin’s buck will place 7th all-time in the B&C book!

The staff here at Hunting Network would like to congratulate the lucky hunter, Kevin Petrzilka, on this once in a lifetime buck. And to know it was the largest 202” plus typical taken in the U.S. since 1971 is just an added treat Kevin. Congrats again!
